Amylose Purification (MBP-tag)

Maltose binding protein (MBP) is a common protein expression tag, as it is known to significantly enhance the solubility of many proteins. Fusion of a target protein to MBP permits one-step purification using amylose resin. The MBP-fusion protein will bind to amylose resin while other proteins flow through. The MBP-fusion protein can then be eluted from the resin with maltose. NEB offers Amylose Resin (NEB #E8021), Amylose Resin High Flow (NEB #E8022) and Amylose Magnetic Beads (NEB #E8035). Amylose Resin is intended for use in gravity flow columns, while Amylose Resin High Flow is a cross-linked, rigid matrix that can be used in automated chromatography systems. Amylose Magnetic Beads and Anti-MBP Magnetic Beads (NEB #E8037) are ideal for the small-scale isolation and purification of MBP fusion proteins.
